By | Fără categorie | No Comments

A proposal in which INCDTIM is partner has passed recently the evaluation stage and entered the procedure for granting 3.075 milion euros  financing via the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Union.

The project ”eXtreme ultraviolet to soft-X-ray Photonic Integrated Circuits – X-PIC” will be developed in cooperation with two top research intitutions from Italy, namely  Politecnico di Milano (coordinator) and Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche and a private german laser company, Class 5 Photonics.

This project aims at the realization of a new technological platform for the development of a EUV – soft X-ray integrated photonics.

The primary goal is to develop a novel technology able to manipulate high-energy photons of attosecond duration in integrated devices; in particular, the spectral range going form the extreme ultraviolet to the soft X-rays is very attractive for applications in Micro- and Nanoelectronics, Biology, Pharmacology, Material and Surface Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Metrology and in many other fields.

INCDTIM has won three Norway Grants projects

By | Fără categorie | No Comments

INCDTIM won three projects in the competition The Norway Grants Call for Proposals 2019 – Collaborative Research Projects (NO grants).

Two of these projects proposed for funding will be coordinated by our colleagues Dr. Crina Socaci (TiO2 nanotubes/graphene-based nanomaterials to address the emerging contaminants pollution) and Dr. Cosmin-Adrian Farcău (Nanostructured microfluidic analytical platform for dual SERS-electrochemical detection of emerging environmental pollutants).

Dr. Diana Mihaela Lazăr is responsible for INCDTIM for the third project (Hybrid Solvents – Membranes for post-combustion CO2 capture and utilization), in which the institute is a partner in the consortium.

The NO grants program contributes to the development of research-based knowledge and increase the performance of Romanian research at international level, by supporting collaborative research projects between research organizations in Romania and Donor States, in the fields: energy, environment, health, social sciences and humanities, including gender studies and studies on social inclusion, communication and information technology, biotechnology.

Quantum Future Academy 2020 – Today’s insights for tomorrow’s experts

By | Fără categorie | No Comments

In November 2020, the first European Quantum Future Academy will take place in Berlin under the motto “Today’s insights for tomorrow’s experts”. As part of its EU Council Presidency, Germany, with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as host, will invite around 60 selected students from the natural and engineering sciences from around 30 European countries to an exciting and exclusive week in Berlin.

From November 1st to 7th, participants can expect exclusive insights into the most diverse areas of applied quantum technologies. These include visits of companies and laboratories, meetings with researchers and industry partners, interesting hands-on workshops and extensive networking opportunities. Of course, cultural activities in the cosmopolitan city of Berlin are not neglected.

The Quantum Future Academy is an initiative of the BMBF and is organized in 2020 in cooperation with the European Quantum Flagship and supported by numerous institutions in the participating countries. The application process for the Academy is organised independently by the European partners in their country. This event is motivated by the intention to support the formation of a sustainable network of young European researchers in the future field of quantum technologies.

The selection process for Romanian students has two steps:

  1. Applications (in English) include a letter of motivation (1-2 pages) + CV.
  2. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an on-line interview. The jury will select 2 winners for the main Quantum Future Academy Event in Berlin.

Please send your application to nicolae.tarba@upb.ro before 10 July 2020.

Further Information can be obtained from Mona Mihăilescu (mona.mihailescu@upb.ro), Radu Ionicioiu (r.ionicioiu@theory.nipne.ro) and Luiza Buimaga-Iarinca (luiza.iarinca@itim-cj.ro)

By | Fără categorie | No Comments

National Institute for Research  and Development of Isotopic and Molecular Technologies INCDTIM is involved in the general effort of the fight against coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. In the current context full of uncertainties, INCDTIM supports Farmec Company in the effort to produce biocides, by providing scientific and technical support (S&T) for the molecular analysis of raw materials and final products in the sanitizing category.

In fact we can say that it is a tradition that INCDTIM Cluj-Napoca has offered over time constant S&T support to the national industry. The collaboration with Farmec Company has already been going on for over 20 years, providing S&T support for the entire production chain of the most famous brands of Cluj-Napoca.

Starting day REFLOW project

CETATEA: Starting day REFLOW project – Project Horizon H2020-SC5-2018-2, ConstRuctive mEtabolic processes For materiaL flOWs in urban and peri-urban environments across Europe – Dr. eng. Adrian Bot responsible for the project, Dr. Oana Raita contact person.

REFLOW (Horizon H2020-SC5-2018-2) project objectives

Through the competences of the project partners, the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca, Aries Transilvania and INCDTIM (CETATEA), it is involved in developing models that can lead to the transformation of European cities into viable long-term systems, both from the social and economic point of view as well as the environment.
Through the REFLOW project, models will be developed in 6 European cities (Cluj-Napoca, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, Paris and Vejle) that will evaluate the ways of implementing the circular economy in different fields, while also evaluating the impact of these models on a social level, economic and environmental issues.
As a partner in REFLOW, the institute through its Research Center for Alternative Energies CETATEA, will cooperate in providing innovative technological solutions for energy transition pathways. REFLOW will establish new low-carbon business practices for improving energy efficiency through a unified, highly replicable platform for integrated transition analysis, forecasting and deployment: a service network bringing together local government, energy service providers and communities local, assisting the common adoption and implementation of the most suitable investments in energy efficiency and mitigation of the local non-technological barriers for the transition.
