Our research is focused on the detection of organic pollutants and toxic metals at trace levels. We develop single or combined depollution answers for their removal based on adsorption, photocatalysis, magnetic separation and filtration processes. Composite materials based on nanostructured semiconductors and magnetic oxides, carbon structures and polymer membranes are used for this purpose.
Method for hydrogen production from ethanol and glycerol at low temperatures
Authors: Diana Lazăr, Maria Miheț, Monica Dan
Hydrogen is currently considered as one of the renewable energy vectors with high potential for utilization in the medium and long term. It can be obtained in a sustainable way in two ways: (i) by electrolysis of water using solar/wind energy; (ii) from biomass products…
Modified electrode for selective detection of lead ions in aqueous solutions
Author: Lidia Măgerușan
Graphene-based materials are of great practical interest and cover a wide range of practical applications. The concern of our group has been to develop novel graphene-based nanocomposites with applicability in electrochemical detection and quantification of lead ions in drinking water, domestic or waste water…
Modified electrode with application in the detection of catechol from aqueous solutions
Authors: Maria Coroș, Stela Pruneanu, Florina Pogăcean, Lidia Măgerușan, Crina Anca Socaci, Marcela Roșu
Graphene-based composite modified electrodes are new, modern products that have many advantages over conventional electrodes and therefore find high-tech applications in electrochemical sensors and gas sensors, respectively. The electrode developed by our group is integrated into an electrochemical cell that is coupled to a potentiostat and is used to test the quality of domestic water…
Fe3O4/TiO2:Eu composite nanoparticles for photocatalytic water purification
Authors: Maria Ștefan, Dana Toloman, Adriana Paula Popa, Ioan Ovidiu Pană
Consumption of contaminated water containing organic contaminants, pathogenic microbes, and heavy metals has been linked to public health problems. The photocatalytic effect, which is an alternative form of wastewater treatment, can degrade organic contaminants into CO2 and H2O…
Magnetic clusters with controlled properties
Authors: Rodica Turcu, Izabell Crăciunescu
Shape and size controlled magnetic clusters with high magnetic moments in external magnetic field represent an improved alternative to magnetic nanoparticles. They represent platforms for the synthesis of nanocomposites with the most diverse applications that depend on future functionalization…
